The optician will provide the highest standards and professional services to our patients. Present the optical product or service with enthusiasm. Provide proper instructions on use and care of eyewear products dispensed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service.
  • Establish and maintain excellent customer service in times of high-volume patient traffic.
  • Verify and dispense optical eyewear in accordance with practice standards, policy, and procedure.
  • Complete necessary documentation of patient requests, concerns, comments etc. in the electronic health records.
  • Provide proper education on lens materials and technology.
  • Explain insurance benefits and how they are maximized to help the patient.
  • Perform repairs, adjustments, and delivery of eyewear.
  • Housekeeping duties include the towers, counters, mirrors, and displays.
  • Ensure displays are orderly, clean, and stocked daily.
  • Maintain professional relationships with Optometrists and Ophthalmologists in the practice.
  • Assists the department managers with all aspects of selling and patient customer service.
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on orders.
  • Conduct billing and payment functions.
  • Maintain required computer skills for performing assigned tasks.
  • Complete all tasks as assigned by the department manager.
  • Answer phone calls throughout the day and take messages as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • 1-2 years Optical Experience preferred, but not required. Extensive training program available.
  • High School graduate.
  • Experience in retail is a plus.
SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Effective listening skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong time management.
  • Be able to perform all tasks with very little supervision.
  • Maintain good relationships with Department managers and Brenart staff.
  • Maintains a positive focus on customer service at all time. Ability to troubleshoot customer concerns in a timely and positive manner.
  • Reliability: reports to work as scheduled.
  • Flexibility with scheduling.
  • Initiative: takes on additional responsibilities and stays in tune with changes to the industry.
  • Ability to observe all HIPAA and safety rules.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Standing and walking required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift 10 lbs. from floor to waist on a periodic basis.
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, reach, and use the staircase multiple times a day
  • Must have physical and mental stamina to work rapidly and with accuracy over long periods of time.
